Classic pale, mauve-pink flower with four-pronged stigmas. Great Willowherb has a stigma like this but has bright pink and larger flowers. Hoary Willowherb too, has a four-pronged stigma but, unlike this, is a furry-hairy plant.

The classic broad-lanceolate leaves with a well-rounded base on short stalks. The leaves do get narrower further up the stem, but it's the lower leaves that gives it its common name.
